Insomniac's Journal

Words birthed in the internal

His subconscious' dunk-tank

These words remained unranked

Articulate the contemplations

Of these waking frustrations

Pen in hand

Sleep be damned

These are the greatest thoughts in the land

But why do they come at 4 in the morning

Must write them down

And heed the warning

His memory won't serve him as well when he wakes

If only he knew what was at stake

Words, Words, and more still left to come

Cannot stop till he sees the sun

Sunken eyes

Blood shot red

Sleep finally comes to the walking dead

Time

A mistress more cruel than mother nature herself
Can steal one's beauty, fame, and wealth
Endlessly present and forever aware
Of the insignificance you hold when others compare
Oblivious to your pleadings
To wind back the clock
And numerous attempts
To avoid death's inevitable
Knock-knock

Time is today
Yesterday & Tomorrow
So please try and contain
Your youth wishing sorrow
Your nose-wrinkling pain
And eye-twitching terror
Time won't be caught ever making an error

Time is a being of a grand design
So best to watch yourself and not get out of line
Please enjoy your days
As plenty or as few
Because one day you will realize
Time has been working on you

Doomed

Taken, yet mistaken
For these claims that I'd been making
Expertly protected
But this outcome was expected

Left alone
On my own
Built my heart out of stone
No one phones
They're all gone
Left behind an empty home

Except for me
Solitary
One young man too blind to see
Released from his captor
On a cloudy afternoon
With a dismal future that will be cut short soon

Cinderella

Twelve O' Clock
Tick-tock, Tick-tock
Cinderella it's time to stop
Dancing with, Mr. Prince Charming
It's sudden and, oh so alarming

Prepare for disaster
Meet with the master
Do your best and try to outlast her
Only then can change your fate
This showdown should be a piece of cake

Once this is done
You can dance until one
Midnight won't be when you come undone
This is me sending my best wishes
Cinderella stop doing the dishes
I hope for you good days and laughter
Please enjoy your happily ever after

Insomniac's Dream

Light breaches through my skin
Illuminate the dark, one for the win
One good day, coming right up
Pep in my step, gotta full cup
Somehow things seem a little bit brighter
I don't feel like such an outsider
24 hours go by in a zoom
One good day foreshadows my doom
Night comes, and as I sit in my room
The darkness has me trapped in a tomb

Thought swirl in a haze of worry
Stress makes them into blurry
Fragments of wonderings
Problems of the past
Resurfacing and built to last
Wishing for sleep, to sweep in and take me
Endless nights why must you forsake me
Hours pass in what seems like weeks
Four O' Clock and my insomnia peaks
Clear my mind, just to sit and wait
Spend my time, stewing in my hate
Aching bones and a weary mind
I know that sleep will come in time

Remembrance

Shattered Glass
In the windows to my soul
Distant future
And misshapen goals
Light flashes on days gone by
A moment of silence
My face toward the sky

A remembrance
One for the many
Enough is Enough
The death toll counted plenty
Life isn't love
But memories are
Links us to others
No matter how far
Uncross my heart
And leave on my way
But never forget those from yesterday

Summer

Adrift on 1,000 blades of grass
The best time to remember the past
One or two trips down memory lane
The sun on my brow
And the summer rain

Walk to the water
Toes in the sand
Stand next to the breeze
Hand in hand
Spend my time
On whatever works
Close my eyes
As Autumn lurks
In the corners of my daydreams
It sits there quietly
Accompanied by winter
They wake me from reverie

Interestingly enough
I stop and smile
A glimpse of two friends
I haven't seen in a while
It's nice to know
They're on their way
But for now
I'll just enjoy this summer's day

Downfall

Living on the edge of his seat
And trying to compete
Beyond his means
Exactly like what it seems

The inevitable downfall
Of this ridiculous outlaw
Was foreshadowed by the ominous clouds
Surrounding his outer wall

The pressures of this society
Make a man fall quietly
Hit the ground without a sound
As spectators look around
Curious as to the cause
Of this man's deathly pause
Breed confusion and fear
Don't wait for the applause

Why did he drop
The questions don't stop
The pretense of a life well lived
goes pop
His internal struggle
Unknown to us all
Made this long moment further stall

Who and What
Where, When, and Why
Did this man fail to touch the sky
Bogged down in the sewage of his own creation
Choked by his world, caused a death of frustration
A sad man's sorrow, cannot wait till tomorrow
The will to go on, is not a thing to be borrowed

At least the deceased
Can enjoy a cease of increase
And spend the rest of their days
Resting in peace
No more pressure
No more pain
No more tension
No more strain

Hopefully this, will make them all see
That the only way for man to live
Is to live free

Chasing The Rain

17 dreams of steam
Evaporate before his eyes
Depression follows closely
And he's left to sit and sigh
How could he miss his chance
He let it slip away
Opportunities are fleeting
There's nothing left to say

Now he's storm chasin'
With wishful expectations
To get back what he lost
Wait for precipitation
As the rain comes
And bathes him in its mercy
A second chance is given
To a fool unworthy
